Original edited for nearly five years by Henry Baker under the pseud. Henry Stonecastle, with contributions by Kelly Campbell, Henry Carey (under pseud. Jack Dryboots), Levinz, Wharton, Phillips, Oldys and Sir John Hawkins. The first selection of the essays was printed in 1736 in 2 v.; this is the second edition of the selection (without edition note), 1747, 4 v.; a 3rd ed. of the first 2 v. was printed in 1756.
